To apply for the SBI PO exam, candidates must meet certain eligibility requirements, such as age limit, nationality, and educational qualifications. These requirements are generally consistent each year, so you can refer to last year’s criteria for guidance until the official notification is released.

Here’s what you need to know:

Age Limit for SBI PO 2024

The age limit for SBI PO 2024 is set between 21 to 30 years. However, age relaxation is available for candidates from specific categories, as detailed below:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3 years
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD):
    • SC/ST PWD: 15 years
    • OBC PWD: 13 years
    • General/PWD/EWS: 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen/Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) and Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs): 5 years
  • Jammu & Kashmir Domicile (01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989): 5 years

Candidates must submit the necessary documents for age relaxation during the interview stage.

Educational Qualification

To be eligible for SBI PO 2024, candidates must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Final year/semester students can also apply, provided they submit their graduation certificate by the time of the interview.
  • Chartered Accountants are also eligible.
  • There is no minimum percentage requirement to apply.

When applying, candidates will need to mention their graduation percentage (rounded to two decimals) if applicable. If you have a CGPA, it must be converted into a percentage based on your university’s guidelines.

Nationality

Candidates must be:

  • Indian citizens, or
  • Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement, or
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) from certain countries, such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or East African nations, intending to settle in India.

Number of Attempts for SBI PO

SBI PO exam has a limit on the number of attempts based on the candidate’s category:

  • General/EWS: 4 attempts
  • OBC: 7 attempts
  • SC/ST: No limit
  • General/EWS (PWD): 7 attempts
  • OBC (PWD): 7 attempts
  • SC/ST (PWD): No limit

Note: Appearing for the Preliminary exam does not count as an attempt.

Important Points to Remember

  • Candidates with a poor credit history or those with negative reports from credit bureaus will be ineligible to apply.
  • Candidates with a criminal record or ethical misconduct will also be disqualified.
  • If you belong to the PWD category, you will be given a 4% horizontal reservation according to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
